In the heart of the Caribbean, you may not expect to discover one of the world’s largest opera houses, yet the majestic Gran Teatro de La Habana is precisely that.

The theatre, which faces Parque Central and was erected as part of a larger complex in 1915, was designed by Belgian architect Paul Belau. The exquisite Baroque façade, which boasts four stunning sculptures produced by the artist, Giuseppe Moretti, will delight art lovers.

The Gran Teatro de La Habana has presented a wide range of performances by some of the world’s most well-known personalities over the years. The National Ballet and Opera of Cuba perform in the theatre today.

While you’re here, try to attend a concert to really experience the venue’s grandeur and great acoustics. There are also guided tours offered.

Prado e/ San Jose y San Rafael is the address.
